A monotype is a labor intensive hand printed original. I draw a rough image on a piece of Mylar and then print ONE color at a time onto 3 pieces of paper from the mylar. Four colors total, starting with yellow, then clean the mylar , then red , and so forth for blue and then black. It is like a hand printed 4 color process. I use objects around the studio to create textures and depth on the mylar. I end up with 3 or 4 separate prints of the same image but with very different colors and textures, so each one is an original.
