Artist statement: This is an etching of my (late) friend, Raven who I was privileged to spend 6 years with. What is perceived as an unnerving glare, I came to respect as just the normal way she looked right through someone. She would watch me for hours as I worked on my etchings  waiting to go for a hike or a ski.

A loving companion, she also saved my life from an aggressive bear. The kids at Junior Nordic ski practice, her numerous furry and human friends, and I will miss her forever. Her gift of spirit lives on in my etchings and in my heart.

Notice that her eyes follow your every move.
